Ok, it’s a major month for lauches. Major!  We just finished the launch by Strategic Profits for their Social Web 2.0 Program (better known for their business building oriented program), and now the internet marketing world is gearing up for a few more.  I passed on the above program, and the Eben Pagan 10k love fest earlier this year, and I’ll tell you why at the bottom of this post…

So, first off, StomperNet is going at it again, and they just released a great video about their upcoming Web2.0 Social Marketing Program. Go view Stomper Web 2.0 Social Marketing Program!  This looks very interesting. I wonder what they are getting at.  As most of you know, I’m a Stomper Member, so we shall see.  I hope it doesn’t suffer from the same problem as the other programs I’ve seen (details below).

Another interesting launch, and one I find even more compelling for everyone, is Armand Morrins upcoming Generator Launch. Actually it’s called Internet Marketing Explained. The free content I find fantastic, far more beginner friendly than the stomper material, and the videos keep coming. This is great stuff, and it’s highly usable so far.

As many of you know, I was part of Armand and Alex’s AM2 Gold Mentoring program, and I was NOT a fan. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I thought the program was not terribly helpful, way too hands off…But this latest venture looks great, and Armand is the real deal for marketing with recurring software products (and has a unique view of membership sites). So go see the free internet marketing videos, and let’s see what’s coming next.

Before I discuss the problems with the past big program launches, I wanted to remind everyone to get their tickets to the ONLY seminar you need to go to. These are going fast, and I give it my full endorsement. This is the real deal, and currently, the ONLY conference that I completey reccomend.  How’s that for a push? This conference can make a real difference in your business (or your future business), so stop dill dallying, REGISTER NOW!

The Problem with the latest launches and social bookmarking: With great power comes the ability to really screw up your business. They are TOO big?! I mean, everyone wants to charge 1k or more, so they make products which are 10+ DVDs, sometimes 20, with manuscripts, and tons of CDs too, and they expect ANYONE will ever get through all that? Will ever need to get through that? And, if by some miracly they finish the course, they find out the implementation time is staggeringly high.

I didn’t order the latest 2 launches because I saw they were too packed with stuff people simply don’t need. I knew I would never actually sit and watch those DVDs and I had serious questions as to what benefit I might recieve had I actually spent the WEEK it would have taken to watch them all.

I make a comparison to comptuer and videos games.  When I hear a game is huge, takes 100+ hours to complete, and has endless replayability, that is NOT a turn on for me. In fact, I run the other way. I want a game I CAN complete in a reasonable time, that has real sold value, no fluff, gets right to the point, and amazes me every step of the way, with little or no repetitive tasks.  The marketing deparments at game companies talk about endless levels, and endless hours of replayability, but don’t realize, people don’t want endless fluff, or mindless repetition.

This is even more true with learning products. Get to the point. Tell me what I have to do, why I need to do it, and ideally, how to do it , (and what I can expect from doing it). Three to four bullet points per topic, then move on. You can expect that kind of clarity and direct thinking in my future books.

That’s not all though, I’m also fearful of Web 2.0. The sheer amount of time it takes to use these sites is staggering, and for the most part, I’m not convinced of the time versus payoff. There’s simply too much clutter, that requires too much work, for too little results. Yes, it likely is the future, but I’m in no rush to enter this "future". As in most products and launches, they tell you what to do, and even how to do it, but pay little notice of actually how hard it is to do, or how massive the time committment might be.

I didn’t enter the Internet Marketing world to work 100+ hours a week. I did that running a video game company.  I did do it, as I hope you will, to sustain a great quality of life, making a fantastic income.  We’re on the planet for a limited time…let’s make use of it!  I’m not saying I haven’t, or won’t, put in my 100+ hour weeks building my business. I surely have, and surely will - however, when I do it, I want to make sure the bang for the buck is there, and my work LASTS for years to come.

I’ll follow these launches closely, and let you know what I find…
