List Control Wrap up, Summary, afterthoughts on Frank Kern List Control Event

I am going to ramble on about the List Control event now. Like the event itself, I don’t suppose this post will have any cohesive nature, but just be a random spewing of thoughts, feedback, and perhaps a nugget of content … maybe. My hope, is like the event, this post will be loved.

Event? Really. Let me start with the good. I have never laughed so hard, so consistently, out loud, at an internet marketing event in my entire life. Nor do I ever expect that it will happen again. Very fun event for the advanced and rich, and mind boggling and wasteful to the beginners.

But, I loved it … Keep reading for more on that. Long Live Frank and Trey!

In fact, most beginner’s I ran across were completely lost. The event felt more like a group of old friends getting together to swap stories, and make each other laugh, than an internet marketing event with their typical “content”. The skill level of most was quite high, and over 50 percent of the room actually had a product, and was actively selling it. That’s a good amount for an event like this. Still, had to feel sorry for those beginner’s or intermediate’s among the crowd, whom might have been hoping for a step by step rehash or addition to the actual list control course. There was none of that.

In fact, I don’t believe the actual course was barely mentioned at all during the entire first day, and only briefly on the second. Come to think of it, List Control itself, the actual course, wasn’t brought up. Wow, this is just dawning on me now. The event had no list building aspect to it … nor any training or anything like that with regards to List Building. There was Copy Control, JV Control (didn’t get to that one, but will be given to us later), and … one other control, but I did not find these presentations to be that focused.

For my part though, I loved it. I was in San Diego all week, got an enormous amount of actual work done, met a few fantastic people, spent over 4k (yes, that’s four thousand), dollars on drinks in the last day alone (at one point, buying fifty or so aspiring internet marketers, and everyone lucky enough to be around me, round after round of shots), and experienced the full on Hard Rock Hotel lifestyle (which is ludicrous to say the least), of a hard living rock star.

While I am first to admit, the hard partying lifestyle of the Hard Rock hotel can be fun, after a few days, the loud music, and drunk people everywhere, were more of a hassle than anything else. Although, admittedly, the bikini clad “enhanced” models walking the hotel, and attending the hotel’s dance events, never really managed to get old. The fact the hotel wanted to charge me, first $200, and then 5k dollars, to attend a day party at the hotel pool, was not appreciated. $200 for a day party at the pool (with a famous house DJ), as a hotel guest in their largest suite, kinda ticked me off, and then asking for 5k (and yes, 10k) for a table at the event … left me feeling like I was on another planet.

That being said, other than that incredibly stupid experience, the hotel staff there were fantastic. Really on top of things.

I have to briefly state, those rooms are so poorly designed. Bathroom and shower in the middle of the room? Really? Doors that don’t offer privacy? Really? A suite that only has a curtain separate various rooms? Come on! I got, as per usual, the nicest room available, and was sorely disappointed by it. Yes, the sheets and amenities were nice, but hated the room layout.

Back to the event itself, all questions were answered, like a final episode of Lost, we found out why were given those books prior to the seminar. Burchard and the Wolf of Wall street were both at the conference (which was a really fun surprise), and both gave fairly good content and yes, pitches, during the event - both were really “storytelling” hours, by masterful storytellers. As a beginner, I would have been transfixed, as a grizzled veteran internet marketer, I was amused and even entertained.

We also got the final word on Frank’s retirement, as he goes on to work full time with the wolf of wall street. I can relate … how do you from a few million, and add a zero? The wolf of Wall Street is the guy to answer that question, no doubt. So that’s what Frank is going to do, and likely, we’ll get a string of affiliate offers throughout the course of the next year, regardless of that decision.

Frank and Trey are an amazing team, and literally should be hosting Saturday Night Live (really). The event, while fun, was not one I’ll be returning to - which is fortunate, since this was likely the last one for a while.

That being said, the greatest lesson here, by far, is the fact that these two have such raving fans, and so many ardent supporters (me, perhaps, among them), that it’s unbelievable what they can do, and how they can do it. Really, how do they do it?! Regardless of content at the event, organization, or even the actual course itself, these two are incredible individuals. They are unique, incredibly smart, and very, very fun to be around.

And finally, the overall course, with the event included; was it worthwhile?
More on that soon - but what do you think?

Frank Kern List Control Seminar, Real Day 1, Saturday Morning at Frank Kern List Control Event

Here I sit, music blaring, conference doors just opened, at the Frank Kern List Control event. Boy, are there a lot of people here. It’s definitely sold out. The event is about to start, people are swatting big balloons around the room, and the excitement level is very high.

Can’t wait to see what’s gonna happen. The pre-day was great, and the social happy hour last night was great. I didn’t realize the Shopping Cart Queen, Christina Hills, was hosting it. I guess I’ve been going to these things now for so long, I’m bound to know someone. Had a great time at the cocktail hour, and made many new friends, and yes, even a few business contacts - and perhaps even a salsa condiment. No, really. A salsa condiment …

Ha, they just got on stage, total rockstar opening for Frank and Trey …
They are now throwing out Easter Eggs with cash into the audience … Alright then …
More soon …

Frank Kern List Control Seminar - San Diego, Pre Day 3

Wow, how time flies in San Diego!

My Frank Kern book reading project took a quiet back seat to falling asleep at the pool, seeing the new Robin Hood movie, going out to Nobu, and night-time velvet rope antics, so I am hoping this public disclosure of my shortcomings gets me in the reading mood today. It’s just two books … an easy day at the office.

Although the urge is high to rent some uber-convertible sports car to tour the San Diego coastline, I’m going to resist that temptation (at least until later), and buckle down for the daytime to get some work done, and get this pre-reading list done. What d’ya think? How do you rate my chances?

San Diego has a great, laid back feel to it. So far, loving my time here, however, it’s a headache filled, bleary eyed morning such as this, that makes me wish I could simply talk the talk versus walk the walk.

Frank Kern List Control Seminar - San Diego, Preperation Day 2

Ok, days before the conference is actually starting, and I have to say San Diego is a beautiful place. I left rainy SF, and the temp. here is a cool 70 (and everyone is complaining about how cold it is). The downtown is plenty of fun, and tonight - there’s salsa dancing (how cool is that), a few blocks from the hotel, at Cafe Sevilla.

So, today, I’m going to try and network a bit, and sit down and read the two books Frank sent out as primers. One, Life’s Golden Ticket by Brendon Burchard, and the second is The Wolf of Wall Street. Interesting selection of books. I may try to download to my Ipad for easier reading (hadn’t though of that til’ now).

Ok, 2 minutes later, just did it. Found the Golden Ticket book (and got it) on Ibooks, but the other one is not on Ibooks. I suppose if I had downloaded the Amazon Kindle app, I may have been able to do it. That would have saved a bit of luggage!

Anyway, there’s my plan. Read, prepare, and mindmap the new (top secret) business. This last task has eluded me for many months - hopefully the new locale will get me jump started. This, combined with a copious amount of coffee, ample sunlight, and the occasional walk around downtown San Diego, will keep me plenty busy. Oh, and there’s a Nobu across the street. Really, how cool is that?

List Control Seminar - Frank Kern List Control Seminar in San Diego

I’m here! Yes, I know it’s like 4 days early, but I left the cold and damp weather of Northern California for the sunny and warm weather of San Deigo, and I type this by the pool of the Hotel …

The List Control seminar is fully booked from the people whom plunked down the 2k for the List Control course. I was not able to even secure an extra ticket for my employees or girlfriend, according to support (and yes, I offered to actually simply pay for them, and was … denied). That was really disappointing, as I had hoped to bring some employees along, and let them relish in the party and learning atmosphere of it all. This conference will definitely be full, and I’m hopeful the attendees will be first rate.

Like most conferences and seminars, this one offers me a chance to get away, live like a king for a week, and ideally, make serious business progress. As I explained to a friend, I typically work in spurts, setting up automated internet businesses in a very small time frame, and then moving on quickly. It’s not that I’m lazy (we know by know, I’m quite the opposite), but I do have a short and quick attention span, and I realize for me to implement anything, it has to be done immediately, and completed fully, within a short time frame (typically three weeks).

We received the schedule, and Frank termed is a weekend of debauchery, cleverly disguised as a conference. I have a feeling it’s going to be a great experience. These conferences always seem to energize me, and leave me with, at best, a new business, and at worst, a solid promotional strategy.

I’m a solid internet marketing kool aid drinker of many years, and I have drank Frank’s kool aid, as I have ingested many others. However, over a decade myself, as an underground full time internet marketing guru has left my vision a little clearer than most, which is to say; even though I have ingested the kool aid, and signed up for the program, I think I can really offer a clear vision of what the average person will really get out of both the course, and the seminar. I look forward to sharing that opinion with you, after the seminar.

My equipment list for this seminar includes, the 3G Ipad, Macbook Pro (13), Iphone, Blackberry, and backup Thinkpad (because I still use Frontpage for some websites). I’m a veritable walking electronics store, but I am prepared, and eager to find out what’s in store for the week.

I’d love to connect with people similarly down for the List Control seminar, or holdovers from the Ed Dale Coming Home event … drop me a line, info@marketingcrazy.com.
