It’s Almost New Years..StomperNet, UnderGround Online Seminar, and 2008
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Yay! It’s almost New Years. What an amazing year it’s been, and 2008 is starting off with a bang. Well, a travel bang, as I’m off to Hawaii, Sydney, New Zealand, and the Caribbean for the first two months. Wow…
Yes, I’ll be running the entire business from the road, and yes, I’ll be posting to the blog incessantly, and yes, I’ll be back in time, specifically, to make my ONE can’t miss seminar of the year:
Register Now and Enter 2008 With a Plan!
I really hope to see you there! If you register with the link above, we’ll make sure to connect at the conference. It should be a lot of fun, and a learning experience as always. I can’t wait (and I have a lot to do before then).
So, I’ve gotten some "Stomper" questions, and actually have chosen not to release or discuss too much the latest stomper "Scrutinizer" software. Not that I don’t think it’s cool, and not that I don’t think it’s beneficial, BUT…
I simply don’t think you need spend your limited time on this. In fact, I’ll have you contract out most of your site design (yes, even if you’re a techie and you like to do it). It’s simply not where the "bang for your buck" lies most of the time. I think this kind of really high level "marketing" is interesting, I think you can do a gajillion things that will have a greater impact in the beginning. My god, there’s a lot to do, and while this is an interesting site design and conversion tool, it’s too deep for the beginner. Nay, too deep for the intermediate. Nay, even too deep for me, the advanced. Eye tracking? Cool, but I’ve got a lot of beaches to see, and luxury hotels to stay at, and frankly, this is not going to be the critical difference for me.
I’m kinda poking fun by saying that, but honestly, there’s so much ya’ have to do to be successful, this is just a level beyond me. Perhaps…just perhaps, I’ll attack it someday in the future. However, for most people, simply executing at any level is a real step forward, and to spend your limited "execution" time on this, I think could send people down a tedious path. In short, I think for my crowd of beginners and intermediates (most people here are earning under 500k, and some haven’t even earned their first dollar), I want to spend time on the things that make immediate impact. It matters little about eye tracking if you have yet to get a website.
So, controversial position, pass. Focus on my 10 rules to get up and running, and converting, before nitpicking. Yikes, I’m going to get into so much trouble. Well, all this is to say, Stomper is a great program, but with any great program comes the risk of spending your time inneficiently. They do a great job with their beginning level stuff, and I still recommend them wholeheartedly for those truly serious about getting started right away…
Stay tuned…they have some great stuff coming, and yes, they are going to open their doors again, and you will get a chance to get in on it…

Another StomperNet Video, my personal thoughts, and have you signed up for the Underground Seminar?
Ok, there’s a lot going on, and the New Year is almost upon us, and I sincerely hope you take SOME action prior to it starting! StomperNet videso are here, and you can go take a look at their latest video. Crazy isn’t it? Yes, it is! Things are changing. Things are getting more technical, and yes, the stakes are getting higher. But are the stakes getting higher in relation to the increased difficult of staying competitive? Not so sure. In fact, if you’re not on top, the answer is a definnitive NO.
What does that mean to you? If you’re just starting, now is not the time to stand on the sidelines. You need to attack this, and attack it hard! You need to Join a group, and devote some significant time to your internet business. Don’t know what to do? Watch these videos and glaze over with technical junk? Think it’s too much to handle?
You need a plan. Stomper gives you that, and a step by step process to follow! But not everyone can afford that. Hell, I even have to question it sometimes. What I don’t question though is my committment to action, and my desire to continue learning, and to stay on top. Even if you want just a passing income, things are changing fast, and it won’t be so easy in another six months, as it is today. Why is that? The pace of change is simply astounding, as is the pace of the "Gold Rush". My manifesto, my big "Attention Age" speech would be titled, "The End of the Internet Gold Rush"(TM), so no-one out there take it. It’s coming in a year or so.
Anyway, this is a reminder, the conference is your starting point (although I hope you start before then). Comit to it now! I’ll be there, and I’ll galdly help you through it all as well.
Ok, so I don’t promote many online marketing or business seminar. Perhaps one or two, and when I do, you can be assured that a) I’ll be there, and b) they are exceptionally good! I’ve been through the ringer, and been going to very expensive seminars for years. Rarely, if ever, can I actually say they were great. Most are hidden pitch fests, with limited use and learning going on. Most say "it’s about the networking", which is code for "we don’t tell you anything on stage".
But, this one is different. This is my ONLY must go seminar next year (as far as I know). This is what I will attend, and this is what I encourage ALL prospective or REAL business owners to go to. This will help you beyond anything else out there, really understand what is working, and what is not. Register Now for the Seminar!
So, what is the Underground Online Seminar?
A few years back, Yanik Silver brought together a group of real-word online success stories to share exactly how they are raking it in.
Appropriately enough, he called his little experiment the
"Underground(tm) Online Marketing Seminar". And because of the unique concept it totally SOLD-OUT 5 weeks early (while most other events are still trying to sell tickets up until the very day of the seminar).
In fact, it was so successful that the crowd demanded another one…and another one! The Underground(tm) II & III events all sold-out even faster!
Let me tell you this event was incredible. I was there! I thought I knew a lot when it came to online marketing and I’ve attended a lot of seminars but these speakers really blew me away!]
Well I don’t know how he did it (again) but he managed to uncover an *ALL-NEW* group of "under-the-radar" six-figure, seven-figure…and even 8-figure earners for the
Underground(tm) 4: Register Now for the Seminar!
It’s all going on March 2008 in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles. March of next year might seem too far away to even think about but there’s an important reason not to delay.
Actually, there are *3* reasons to pay attention now:
Reason #1: You get the lowest discounts, bonuses and surprises (including a private VIP networking and actual SPY mission).
Reason #2: Like I mentioned, last year this unique event sold- out 6 weeks early. And from the buzz, build-up and new success stories - I have reason to believe this year may sell out even quicker.
Reason #3: To go along with his theme, Yanik’s is bringing in a special celebrity guest. You can meet and get your picture taken with a top star from the hit TV show "24".
It would be a huge mistake to miss out on this:
Sincerely,
MarketingCrazy (Evan Margolin)

DanceCrazy.com: A Tale of Internet Ecommerce [1/5]
Welcome to the tale of DanceCrazy.com, and how it got started, 2 years ago, on the internet. This is but one interesting internet ecommerce story, but I thought it was worth telling, for the lessons to be learned, and mistakes to be avoided.
First, realize, the site that you see there now, at DanceCrazy, is the site in it’s rebirth, and not the way it once looked, nor with the functionality it once had. This is being written as we start to rebuild from the mistakes we’ve made.
And no, we’re not slouches. We’ve bene making insane money on the net for years and years. I would say I’m a guru in hiding (or perhaps simply too busy pursuing other things), to come out. I’ve done just about every type of thing to make money on the net. I continue to buy course after course, even though they’ve long lost any fleeting usefulness they might have had. I still … believed, for whatever reason, that there was something I was missing.
Ya’ see, I was following the internet marketing courses. Going to the seminars. Buying the big ticket items. Trying to uncover the "secrets", and like everyone else whom eventually succeeds, finally coming to the realization that it is fast movement, trial and error, and a constant attitude of immediate action (along with tons of hard work), that eventually makes the difference. Anyway, we’ll get back to that… let’s continue with the story.
At the time I purchased DanceCrazy.com, it was the most expensive domain name I had ever purchased. I purchased it in the waiting room of a local hospital, as my girlfiend underwent throat cancer surgery. As the bidding got higher and higher, the entire waiting room gathered around me, as I bid the domain higher and higher to try and get it. Up until this point, a business of ours had been salsacrazy.com, and I had a dream of expanding this to all dance (as I still do). So…higher and higher the bidding went.
200? 300? Nah, that was peanuts. At $1000, was when people started gathering around. Wondering what I was doing, as I called people whom I thought might be bidding against me, in hopes of reaching a settlement. Nope, never did find out whom was bidding against me. It would be nice to know in hindsight. With all the people around me, pushing me to bid higher, and the stress of my girlfriend undergoing surgery, I just went higher and higher…
Now, before you yell at me, "what were you doing bidding on a domain name when your girlfriend is undergoing throat surgery"? Let me tell ya’, what else should ya’ do?! I was sitting in a waiting room going crazy. Absolutely crazy. So, this was passing the time. And..y’know…etrenepeneurs right?
Anyway, 2k, 3k…higher we went. Snapnames bidding going crazy. It ended at…8k. Jeez. I was rolling in cash at that time, but I still thought, 8k was crazy. Dance-Crazy to be exact. It had been in use since 2001, dependably aged, and with good incoming links (which I squandered wastefully). So, I got it. Yay. Now what?
Well, here’s the crazy thing. Even with all my success, I decided that I was "missing" something. I thought, well, now that I’m rich, I’ll go play with the "big boys". I’ll spend some serious cash. Go to bigger companies. See how it would be to have a real "professional" do my web design. A super "pro" do my marketing (argh it hurts to say this out loud). A pro to create my backend. Argh. I still didn’t realize the single greatest secret…
I was the pro! Whoops…Didn’t stop me from losing my shirt. For well over a year!
What did I do? You’ll have to wait for the next chapter…
Lessons Learned:
1) Don’t over pay for domains
a) Don’t get caught in a bidding war!
b) Set limits so you know how far you’ll go!
2) Know WHY you need a domain.
a) For me it was vanity. What’s your reason?
3) Mistake that I averted since then?
a) for vanity purposes, I wanted "salsaking.com". So lame. I didn’t pay the 20k he was asking. Vanity has it’s limits. The domain, at it’s absolute limit, is worth $250-$500. Don’t get taken advantage of. Learn how to value domains!
b) Yes, if you are interested in going into domaining, or learning more about domain purcashing and valuation, there are many FREE resources available for you. Coming soon..
OH, and of course, what everyone wants to know! The throat surgery went well. All cancer was removed. And while she is no longer my girlfriend, she remains one of my closest friends in the world. She’s fine, and living a happy life.
